My name is Deidra Mascoll Idehen and I am a leadership and executive coach. Coaching was a natural transition for me after working in the human resources/consulting space for over 10 years. I noticed a great need in this space for aspiring and current leaders specifically for women and people of color and wanted to fill the void; a need that for me was filled by various mentors and sponsors in my career. The coaching space is missing the perspective and experiences of women of color and I wanted to ensure that my perspective and experience in corporate is represented.

I provide executive and leadership coaching, professional development workshops, and consulting to individuals, entrepreneurs, and organizations. I address issues that hold individuals, entrepreneurs and organizations excel and achieve their goals. As a coach, I aim to unlock the achievement factor of each client.

What do you wish you would have known earlier in your career?

I wish I knew that hard work alone was not the key marker of success. Hard work serves as a foundation; relationships and the way you leverage relationships can take the average hard worker and turn them into a future leader.

What do you love about your job?

The best part of my job is the ability to see each client's "aha" moment, the moment where everything they've thought about and worked towards comes together and propels them forward into a desired direction. As a diversity advocate and practitioner, I enjoy working with women, people of color, and any person of difference. There are so many barriers which preclude diverse individuals from success, I aim to remove or give awareness that will help each person navigate around those barriers.

What is your favorite way to encourage women entrepreneurs?

I like the one-on-on interactions with female entrepreneurs. As time is a finite resource, I enjoy teaching workshops that help build awareness to women as they create their empires.

What are you looking forward to?

I look forward to the remainder of this year. The current climate, though tragic and disheartening, is a breeding ground for perseverance, innovation, and opportunity. I know that we will emerge stronger and with a grit that will spur that greatest inventions we've seen to date. I'm excited to help entrepreneurs as they enact great change.
